Cason will be one month old tomorrow! Time has absolutely flown by! Life with two little ones is hectic but is also a lot of fun. Ben his a great big brother; Jed and I could not be more proud.

| Before his first set of casts |
We met with Cason's orthopaedist when he was about 1 1/2 weeks old. The treatment plan we were given didn't really vary from what we expected; we had already learned a lot from reading articles online. He is being treated using the Ponseti method which includes a series of casts and braces. Each week, Cason gets a new set of soft fiberglass casts. He will wear these for around 4-6 weeks; It could be more or less depending on how well he progresses. Once this series of casting is completed, he could have minor in-office procedure called Tenotomy. Then, he will have another set of casts for 3 weeks. After all the casting is complete, he will wear braces for 3-4 years. The braces will first be worn 23 hours a day and then eventually only during naps and at night.
Cason got his first set of casts on September 21, his second pair on September 28 and will get his third set tomorrow on October 5. He was only fussy the first night with his casts but has since adjusted really well.

Last week: week 1 of casts
|
We remove his casts each week a couple of hours before his doctor's appointment. This allows us the chance to give him a real bath, as opposed to just a sponge bath, and some time to play with his little toes that are usually covered up! Last week, after only a week of wearing casts, we could already see a difference in his feet which was exciting.
Ben also got a new haircut this month. We love it but now he looks like a little man instead of a little baby boy!
Allison - we are keeping up with Cason through this website and news from the family. We want to see him, but have hesitated with all you have going on. Please know we love you all and are thinking and praying for our new little fellow. He sounds like a trouper. We WILL see you soon. Love to all
